Uffda Motors is a locally owned shop on the east side of Saint Paul. We started because we believe you deserve a mechanic who treats you like a person, not a ticket number.
Nobody likes dealing with car trouble. It's stressful, it's expensive, and if you don't know cars, it's easy to feel like you're at someone's mercy. We started Uffda Motors because we wanted a shop we'd actually trust -- and figured other people probably wanted the same thing.
When you call, you talk to the person doing the work. When we find something wrong, we show you, explain what it means, and give you a straight number before anything happens. You decide. No pressure, no surprise add-ons.
What's an Uffda?
Uffda (uff-dah) is a Scandinavian expression -- brought over to the upper Midwest by Norwegian and Swedish immigrants and adopted enthusiastically by Minnesotans ever since. It's what you say when something is a bit much. When the snow won't stop. When the check engine light comes on for the third time this year.
We named our shop Uffda Motors because we get it. Car problems are an Uffda moment. Our job is to turn that moment into a "phew" -- car's fixed, estimate was fair, you can get back to your life.
It also helps that we're in Minnesota. Uffda fits like a good set of jumper cables.
